Aces Drop Canadiens, 4-3
|
The Quebec Aces knocked off the Montreal Canadiens, 4-3, in Stars Conference action at Oilers Ballpark. Quebec pitcher and Virginia Beach, Virginia, native Phil Dalton had an outstanding performance. The winning pitcher was Dalton, now 7-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Dave Barncord closed it out for Quebec, earning his 1st save.
Quebec won the game in part because of David Lovell. The third baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Aces ahead, 4-1. For the game, Lovell had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
Lovell told a Quebec News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
