Matadors Win at Nashville, 6-3
|
Fernando Garcia, who is tied for 6th in the SC in strikeouts with 70, propelled his team to victory over the Nashville Lasers. The final score was 6-3, Hartford. Garcia yielded 2 runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-6. Jeremy Carter nailed down the save.
It could have been a different outcome for Hartford, had it not been for Jeff Rick, the 25-year old third baseman . Rick contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Hartford up, 5-3.
Hartford manager Jesse Heugly commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The Matadors are now 33-38, while the Lasers fall to 34-37.
