Baxter Springs catcher Matt Bellavance was sensational. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Portland beat the Marshals, 9-8, in 12 innings. Troy Zufelt notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Portland is third in the Stars Conference West Division with a record of 34-38.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 12th inning. With two out, Mike Henschel hit a 1-0 cutter from David Johnson for a run-scoring single. It put Portland in front, 9-8.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Portland field general Will Berman.
