Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Lubbock Stampede and Chesapeake Tailgators.

Starting pitcher Dan Wenger pitched well enough to help the Lubbock Stampede beat the Chesapeake Tailgators, 6-3. Wenger, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 5 walks. The save was credited to Paul Garcia, his 20th.

Lubbock used a clutch hit from Bubba Weese to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stampede ahead, 6-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"It feels good to get this one," Weese told the Lubbock Times.

The Stampede sit in 5th place in the Stars Conference West Division with a record of 36-35.
