The Baxter Springs Marshals earned a close win over the Hartford Matadors, thanks in part to Ricardo Quiroz. The Baxter Springs left-hander, who is tied for 4th in the SC in innings pitched with 91.2, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Salvatore Barajas was credited with the save for Baxter Springs, his 3rd of the season. The Marshals now have a record of 31-38.

Baxter Springs used a clutch at-bat from Jay Fowler to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Marshals ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Hartford manager Jesse Heugly. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
