Tailgators Deal Marshalls 6-3 Defeat
|
The Chesapeake Tailgators locked up a win at Hedgehogs Park, knocking off the Fremont Marshalls, 6-3. On the mound for Chesapeake was left-hander Melvin Gamboa. He played a major role in the triumph. Gamboa yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-7. The save was credited to George Sisco, his 2nd.
Chesapeake third baseman Dan Scott contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a knuckleball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Tailgators ahead, 4-0.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Gamboa.
The Tailgators, at 24-44, sit in 5th place in the Stars Conference East Division.
