Tailgators Drop Ghosts, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Chesapeake Tailgators and the Laredo Ghosts, pitcher Alex Martinez was the difference between victory and defeat. The Chesapeake left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Tailgators win. At 35-34, Chesapeake is in 4th place in the Stars Conference East Division.
Chesapeake used the timely hitting of Richard Ulmer to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tailgators on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I pretty much put my pitches where I wanted to," said Martinez.
