The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Hartford Matadors, 5-3, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Leading the charge for Montreal was catcher Bobby Brenner. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Kevin Sicola was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Chris Wyzard picked up the save for Montreal, his 1st of the year.

Montreal used the hitting of Jim Wilkes to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Canadiens on top, 2-0. For the game, Wilkes had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
