Due in large part to first baseman Alex Aime, the Portland Mad Ants sunk the Glendale Muskies, 5-1. Aime went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Eric Zane picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-3 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 3 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 1 run. The 4th-place Mad Ants are 32-36.
In the bottom of the first, Portland right fielder Jerry Blake had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Blake stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 2-0, Portland. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Aime.
