Mad Ants Rally Late to Clip Baxter Springs
|
The Portland Mad Ants took Baxter Springs pitcher Oscar Ayala's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Marshals Ballpark. The final score had Portland getting past the Marshals, 4-3. Ayala went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 10. Portland reliever Nathan Glowacki got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Salvatore Barajas was tagged with the loss. Pete Mead earned his 18th save, after closing out the game.
Portland used the timely hitting of Nate Ryan to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mad Ants on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Baxter Springs manager Mitsuaki Sakaguchi said, following the tough loss.
The Mad Ants are now 30-36.
