Muskies Squeeze By Montreal, 6-5
|
Javy Villapando knocked in 3 runs to help Glendale beat Montreal, 6-5, in 14 innings. Villapando produced 1 single and 1 home run. Glendale reliever Mike Gibson picked up the win to move to 1-0. Joel Daniels suffered the loss. Picking up the save was Jose Cardona, his 1st.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Justin Scott? The 24-year old third baseman Scott stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 14th inning to put Glendale up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.
In postgame remarks, Villapando said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
The Royals, at 25-41, have lost 5 in a row.
