Fremont Marshalls starter Brian Gay pitched well against the Joilet Jesters at Ballpark of Joilet, leading his team to a win, 4-1. The winner was Gay. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Matt Schmid. The Marshalls now own a record of 29-35.

Fremont used the timely hitting of Charlie Harrison to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marshalls on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Brian had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Fremont manager Bill Mason.
