Marshalls Score Late, Clip Tailgators, 5-4
|
The Fremont Marshalls wiggled past the Chesapeake Tailgators, 5-4, at Hedgehogs Park. The win was highlighted by the performance of Fremont pitcher Jon Kwait. Rich Wade picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Donovan Mott suffered the loss. Their 28-35 record puts the Marshalls 4th in the Stars Conference West Division.
The Marshalls got a clutch hit from first baseman Dave Reisinger. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Marshalls.
"Jon has got a slow heartbeat," said Fremont manager Bill Mason. "He doesn't panic or anything."
