The Portland Mad Ants eked out a 3-2 win versus the Lubbock Stampede at Mad Ants Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Rick Winkler. He was terrific. The Stars Conference West Division-leading Mad Ants are 38-24.

The decisive blow was delivered by Eric Hayes in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 29-year old right-handed pitcher Jaheem Brown to win the game for Portland. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Hayes.
