Portland pitcher Luis Alcoser had a large part in his team beating the Quebec Aces, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Rich Wilkinson was called on to finish, recording his 15th save. Portland goes to 37-23. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.

Portland third baseman Jon Fritz contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 48th hit of the season and put the Mad Ants ahead, 4-2.

Portland manager Efren Nieman was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
