The Hartford Matadors downed the Glendale Muskies, 3-1, at Field of the Muskies. Stellar pitching by Andrew Severson had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the SC with a 2.42 ERA, handcuffed his opponent all game. Mario Ruiz picked up the save for Hartford, his 13th of the year. With the win, Hartford goes to 32-27, while the Muskies fall to 33-26.

Josiah Smith had a direct impact on the outcome. Smith contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Hartford up, 2-1.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Smith said after the game.
