Jon Kwait brought his A-game to help Fremont defeat the Portland Mad Ants, 2-0. The Marshalls improved their record to 25-33 with the win over Portland.

Kwait, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, was dealing all game. He kept Portland hitters off-balance, while giving the Marshalls 7.1 quality innings. Kwait threw 86 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.

"Jon gave us a heck of an effort," said Fremont manager Bill Mason.
