Both teams had their chances, but the Lubbock Stampede eventually prevailed.

The Lubbock Stampede dealt the Laredo Ghosts a 5-4 loss at Ghosts Ballpark. Hiromichi Sato was the star on offense. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Earning his 11th save of the year was Rick Ways.

In the top of the sixth, Lubbock second baseman Frank Lewis had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Laredo hurler Vic Lucero, Lewis hit a sacrifice fly. That made the score 5-3, Lubbock. For the day, Lewis drove in one run.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Lubbock manager William Maysonet.

The Stampede have an impressive 35-22 record.
