Hartford Beats Joilet, 5-3
|
Hartford Matadors starter Nate Benson pitched well against the Joilet Jesters at Ballpark of Joilet, leading his team to a win, 5-3. Dusty Thomas got the save, the 1st for him this season. The last-place Matadors now have a win-loss record of 28-29.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Steve Doyle? The Hartford second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Matadors on top, 3-0. For the game, Doyle had 2 doubles and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Hartford manager Jesse Heugly.
