Starting pitcher Chris Simon pitched well enough to help the Lubbock Stampede beat the Montreal Royals, 6-4. Lubbock reliever Gabe Calloway picked up the win, while Jim Patterson took the loss for Montreal. Nick Kirshner earned the save, his 4th, for the Stampede.

Jesus Ruiz drew 1 walk in 3 plate appearances against the Royals. With the game tied in the top of the tenth inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Lubbock in front, 4-3.

"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Montreal manager Bobby White.

The second-place Stampede have won 6 straight.
