Riding the 2-hit performance of the 21-year old third baseman Kevin Cimini, the Chesapeake Tailgators stopped the Laredo Ghosts, 12-0. Ernie Fields earned the win for Chesapeake. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 1-6. The win makes Chesapeake 13-40, nothing to write home about.

With Chesapeake leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Cimini came up to bat against Laredo pitcher Rick Winkler. Cimini hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season put the Tailgators on top, 4-0.

"We can't expect to win," said Laredo manager Josh Miller, "when we play like that."
