Starting pitcher Matt Parsons gave the Portland Mad Ants a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Chesapeake Tailgators, 3-1, at Mad Ants Ballpark. Kevin Kovach nailed down his 8th save. The Mad Ants now have a record of 24-30 with the win over Chesapeake.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Brandon Smith didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Chesapeake trailing 3-1, Smith retired Kevin Cimini to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Smith, with a wink.
