Lubbock turned a good performance from starting pitcher Sam Naber into a 7-2 triumph over the Montreal Canadiens at Reagor Dykes Stadium. The third-place Stampede improved to 31-21.

The Stampede got a big at-bat from third baseman Eric Brewer. For the game, Brewer was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Lubbock a 2-0 lead.

"Sam is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Lubbock manager William Maysonet.
