Tailgators Fall to Mad Ants Late
|
Portland took on Chesapeake in front of a lively crowd.
Chesapeake got a valiant performance from pitcher Danny Reyna, but it wasn't enough to beat the Portland Mad Ants. Portland won the game, 6-1. Reyna threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. John Sherline notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 3-4.
Jerry Blake hit a 2-run triple off Donovan Mott in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Mad Ants in front, 3-1. Blake had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 2.
Blake said his team "played with determination."
The 4th-place Mad Ants have a record of 23-29.
