Pimenta Leads Aces to Win
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Quebec Aces and Baxter Springs Marshals.
Dave Pimenta powered the Quebec Aces to a win over the Baxter Springs Marshals. The final score was 10-6. The Quebec right fielder was phenomenal. He stroked 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Phil Dalton, who is tied for 2nd in the SC in wins with 5, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Ken Bixby notched his 1st save of the season.
Rich Simmer, who is tied for 7th in the SC in stolen bases with 7, chipped in a grand slam home run for Quebec in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
Quebec manager Matt Blade was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
Quebec is now 29-23. Baxter Springs is 24-28.
