Royals Need Extra Innings to Top Matadors, 6-4
Montreal starter Lee Morgan pitched well against the Hartford Matadors at Ballpark of Tacoma. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-4, in 10 innings. Montreal reliever Chase Harriger was the winner. His record is now 1-3. John Schwartz took the loss. Matt Rickert recorded the save, his 1st.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Justin Phelps came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Hartford pitcher Terry May, he hit a 0-1 cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Montreal on top, 5-3.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Phelps said.

The Matadors, now 25-27, have lost 5 straight.
