Chesapeake turned a good performance from starting pitcher Eric Tate into a 1-0 triumph over the Hartford Matadors at Tailgators Ballpark. The save was credited to Nick Douglass, his 7th. Chesapeake is 23-27 and Hartford, with the loss, 31-19.

Tate, the winning pitcher, raised his record to 4-6. In 8.2 innings of work, Tate gave up no runs on 1 hit, while racking up 5 Ks. He kept the Matadors punchless, offensively.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Tate said.
