The Hartford Matadors beat the Montreal Royals, 5-4, at Ballpark of Tacoma. The Matadors got a fine performance from shortstop Roy Blaylock, who went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Gabe Vincent, the winner, is now 7-3. He struck out 6 and walked 5 over 6 innings, while allowing no runs on 4 hits. The save went to Mario Ruiz, number 10 for him.
Early in the game, Blaylock had a 3-run home run for Hartford. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Matadors on top, 3-0.
Blaylock told the Hartford Bulletin: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
By defeating Montreal, the third-place Matadors improved to 27-21.
