Hinojos, Mad Ants March to 7-3 Victory
|
The Portland Mad Ants beat the Quebec Aces, 7-3, at Mad Ants Ballpark. Portland center fielder Felipe Hinojos led the way. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Pete Mead went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the SC with a 1.06 WHIP, struck out 4 and walked 0. With the win, he's now 3-3 this season. With the win, the Mad Ants sit at 29-17.
Neil Zander had a big 2-run double for the Mad Ants in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Portland leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Ken Bixby and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mad Ants ahead, 4-1.
"Not the sexiest win," said Mad Ants manager Will Berman, "but I'll take it."
