Big Day for Pettit as Matadors Down Mad Ants, 7-4
The timely hitting of Joe Pettit helped the Hartford Matadors down the Portland Mad Ants, 7-4. Pettit slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Matadors. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher Vinny Padilla in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Mike Glass took the loss. The Stars Conference West Division-leading Matadors are 30-18.

Hartford took a 7-4 lead on Pettit's 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Mike Glass in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Hartford to the win.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Pettit.
