Montreal Slaps 5-1 Loss on Montreal
|
At Oilers Ballpark, the Montreal Canadiens and Montreal Royals were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Montreal registered a win at Oilers Ballpark by beating the Montreal Canadiens, 5-1. Pitcher Joe Hewson was one reason why the Royals triumphed. In 6.1 innings, Hewson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was 29-year old left-handed pitcher Jonathan Marquina.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Alejandro Chiriboga? The Montreal third baseman had a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Royals on top, 4-1. For the game, Chiriboga had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Joe did a good job keeping the game under control," said Montreal manager Bobby White.
Montreal sits in first place in the Stars Conference East Division at 29-13.
