The Nashville Lasers thumped the Portland Mad Ants, 8-2, at Lasers Ballpark. Hector Landa was a big reason his team got the win. Landa was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3. Nashville reliever Eugene Ricci picked up the win to move to 1-0. Chris Simon suffered the loss. The Lasers sit in first place in the Stars Conference East Division with a record of 26-16.
David Puente, who is tied for 8th in the SC with a .856 OPS, chipped in a run-scoring ground out for Nashville in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
