Chesapeake Nerve Tested in 9-8 Win
Laredo right fielder Jake Way had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Way slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3, even as Chesapeake beat the Ghosts, 9-8. Eric Sawyer picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-4. Joe McLaughlin suffered the loss. With the win, the Tailgators improved to 16-25.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Chesapeake. That's when Mark Riley hit a solo home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Joe McLaughlin to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Riley said.
