Canadiens Lose, 6-3, at Ballpark of Newport News
|
Little Rock pitcher Mel Duran did his part in helping his team beat the Montreal Canadiens, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Duran yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 10. His record improves to 2-4. Little Rock, with the win, sits at 12-27.
The Governors got a big boost from shortstop Jose Lazaro who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Canadiens hurler Frank Taylor. It was his 4th walk of the season and put Little Rock on top, 1-0.
"They beat us fair and square," Montreal skipper said.
