|
Hartford starter Tony Morales pitched well against the Portland Mad Ants at Mad Ants Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Ken Yates notched his 8th save of the season. The 4th-place Matadors go to 17-19.
Dave Aschenbrener came through with a big-time hit for Hartford. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Matadors manager Jesse Heugly. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
