Marshals Suffer 7-2 Home Defeat
|
The Hartford Matadors defeated the Baxter Springs Marshals, 7-2, at Marshals Ballpark. Leading the charge for Hartford was shortstop Roy Blaylock. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Hartford starter Scott Johnson was credited with the win after throwing 106 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. With the victory, the Matadors upped their record to 20-16.
With Hartford leading 4-1 in the top of the fifth, Blaylock hit a fastball from Sam Powers for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Matadors ahead, 7-1.
Blaylock told the Hartford Times: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
