Matadors Beat Muskies, 3-2
|
Glendale got a decent performance from pitcher Terry Droubay, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hartford Matadors. Hartford won the Ballpark of Tacoma contest, 3-2. Droubay threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Mike Hernandez went 5.1 innings, allowing no runs on 8 hits. The left-hander struck out 7 and walked 1. With the win, he ups his record to 2-1 this season. Everton Jackson sewed up the save, his 16th.
In the bottom of the first, Joe Pettit delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 1st, the Hartford third baseman hit a run-scoring double, putting the Matadors in front, 3-2.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Glendale skipper Jon Greenberg, "and it cost us."
Their 20-11 record puts the Matadors first in the Stars Conference West Division.
