Aces Get Clutch Win Versus Laredo
|
The Laredo Ghosts wasted an inspired, 7.1-inning effort from starter John Brown, falling, 1-0, to the Quebec Aces at Ghosts Ballpark. Sean Ryan snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. John Bonnell suffered the loss. Mauricio Martinez earned the save, his 8th, for the Aces.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Cory Donaghy? The Quebec center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Aces on top, 1-0. For the game, Donaghy had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Josh Miller.
After today's action, Quebec sits at 17-14; Laredo slips to 17-14.
