Mad Ants Get Hard-Earned Win
Lubbock got a big-time effort from pitcher Chris Simon, but it wasn't enough to keep the Portland Mad Ants from winning the game, 3-2. Simon threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. With the win, Portland raised its record to 18-11.

Portland used the clutch hitting of Jason Paulsen to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mad Ants ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Both teams played hard," said Portland manager Will Berman.
