Owens Excels, But Mad Ants Win
Though he had a stellar game, Clark Owens could not prevent his team, the Baxter Springs Marshals, from losing, 7-5, to the Portland Mad Ants. Owens belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Oscar Orduno, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Marshals to 4 runs on 6 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 1. The Mad Ants win now puts them at 16-14.

Portland went up, 7-3, on Jonathan McElwain's 4th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which McElwain hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Baxter Springs pitcher Jeremy Reyner shaking his head.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Portland manager Will Berman.
