5 Straight Wins for Matadors
|
The 3-hit performance of Tony Perez, who is tied for 7th in the SC with a .365 batting average, helped the Hartford Matadors beat the Chesapeake Tailgators, 6-2. Ken Yates picked up the save for Hartford, his 9th of the year. At 14-16, the Matadors are currently last in the Stars Conference West Division.
The Tailgators had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Matadors going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop Brad MacNeil came to the plate. MacNeil hit a 3-run home run on a 0-2 fastball from Chesapeake hurler Paul Hardin. It was MacNeil's 4th home run of the year.
"I had some good swings out there," said Perez.
