The Chesapeake Tailgators faced a tough opponent in Montreal pitcher Adam Obermeier, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Oilers Ballpark by a final score of 8-3. Obermeier went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. Jimmy Miano, who leads the SC in wins with 3, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. The Canadiens drop to 8-17.
Chris Martinez, who is tied for 4th in the SC in runs scored with 15, helped out the Chesapeake cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4 with a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Martinez told a Chesapeake Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
