The Montreal Canadiens did just enough to sneak past the Lubbock Stampede, 4-3, at Oilers Ballpark. Montreal right fielder Mike Reese, in particular, had a standout performance. Montreal goes to 12-13.
Reese had a timely hit for Montreal in the bottom of the eighth. With Montreal trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-0 cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 4-3, Montreal.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Reese told the Montreal Citizen.
