Mad Ants Capture Close Win
Quebec got a valiant performance from pitcher Victor Garza, but it wasn't enough to beat the Portland Mad Ants. Portland won the game, 4-3. Garza threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Luis Alcoser. His record now stands at 1-2. The right-hander went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits for the Mad Ants. Rich Wilkinson earned the save for Portland, his 6th of the year.

Portland used a clutch hit from Jason Paulsen to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mad Ants ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Paulsen.

The Aces fall to 10-15 and continue their lackluster start to the 2021 season.
