Matadors Make It 4 In a Row with 5-4 Triumph Over Portland
Conditions were not ideal but Hartford and Portland were able to put their game in the books.

Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Jason Paulsen, the Portland Mad Ants lost to the Hartford Matadors, 5-4. Paulsen hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jeremy Carter saved it for Hartford.

Tied up with the Mad Ants in the top of the fourth inning, the Matadors got a boost from center fielder Jesus Rodriguez. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Rodriguez saw a 0-1 fastball from Rodrigo Izquierdo and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Hartford on top, 4-3.

"I thought we competed really well," said Matadors manager Jesse Heugly. "I thought the energy was really good."

The win lifts Hartford to a record of 14-10.
