Stampede Come Up Short at Montreal, 2-1
|
Chris Simon could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Lubbock Stampede lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Montreal Canadiens at Oilers Ballpark. Jacob Hodge notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. Montreal sits at 5-14 in the early going.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Canadiens had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when first baseman Jim Wilkes hit a 2-run single. The single came off Chris Simon and made the score 2-1, Canadiens. Wilkes went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Lubbock manager William Maysonet.
