Jesters Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Hartford Matadors could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Vinny Padilla into a win. Instead, the Joilet Jesters prevailed, 4-3. Padilla threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Sean Rowe snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Dusty Thomas suffered the loss. The win has Joilet at 12-7.
Bobby Shrader played the role of hero for Joilet. In the bottom of the tenth, he launched a solo home run off Dusty Thomas to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
Hartford manager Jesse Heugly said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
