Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Portland Mad Ants and Nashville Lasers.

The Portland Mad Ants defeated the Nashville Lasers, 6-4, in Stars Conference action at Mad Ants Ballpark. Portland pitcher Pete Mead had a standout performance. The win belonged to Javier Alba in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Mickey Ferrell took the loss for Nashville.

Portland took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Tyler Welsh hit a clutch 3-run home run to bring Mad Ants fans to their feet.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Mead, "and then get after it again."

Nashville falls to 8-10.
