Mad Ants Take Tight Tangle
The Portland Mad Ants overcame a good performance by Baxter Springs first baseman Jake Baker to knock off Baxter Springs, 6-5, at Mad Ants Ballpark. Baker went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Portland reliever Corey Hell picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ian Denham suffered the loss. The Marshals drop to 8-9 and continue their mediocre start to the 2021 season.

Eric Hayes was the walk-off hero for Portland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mad Ants left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Enjoyed this one," Hayes told the Portland Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
