Baxter Springs Breaks Through for First Win in World Series; Now Trails 3-1
Ruben Torres was not about to watch an opponent celebrate a championship on his home field.

The right-hander pitched the Baxter Springs Marshals to victory at Marshals Ballpark, staving off the Quebec Aces, who remain one game away from a title. Torres threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The win cuts the series deficit for the Marshals to 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Johnny Pullam came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Quebec pitcher Kyle Thompson, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Baxter Springs on top, 3-2.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Pullam, "one at-bat at a time."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Marshals Ballpark in Baxter Springs.
