Behind a bravura effort from starter David Damian, the Montreal Royals topped the Hickory Crawdads by the score of 4-1 and got their first win in the 2025 World Series. Damian threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the Royals. The win moves Montreal into a 1-1 tie with Hickory.

Montreal won the game in part because of Cory Bloodsaw. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Royals ahead, 2-0. For the game, Bloodsaw had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Damian. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Turtles Ballpark in Montreal.
