Baxter Springs Tops Hartford, 3-2, Claims 2-1 Series Lead
A strong performance from pitcher Alberto Renteria was not enough for the Hartford Matadors, who were stopped by the visiting Baxter Springs Marshals, 3-2, in Game 3 of the League Championship Series. The Marshals never truly figured out the right-handed Renteria, who threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Still, the Marshals now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Marshals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when catcher Matt Bellavance hit a 2-run single. The single came off Alberto Renteria and made the score 3-0, Marshals. Bellavance was 1-3. He drove in 2 runs.

"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Bellavance told the Baxter Springs Bulletin. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Marshals Ballpark in Baxter Springs.
