Almost There: Mexico City On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 3-0 Win
Their bats were silent and Mexico City had a rookie on the mound. No problem.

On a day when the Aztecs struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 22-year-old starter Mike McManigle. The right-hander quieted the Glace Bay Miners at Miners Memorial Park to help Mexico City take the 3-0 decision and seize a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 World Series.

Mexico City used the clutch hitting of Josh Townsend to snag the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Aztecs ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said McManigle.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Miners Memorial Park in Glace Bay.
