Mountaineers Heading to World Series
|
It took a while, but the Winchester Mountaineers finally disposed of the Corpus Christi Mermen 3-2 in the series clincher at Mountaineers Park.
Winning the finale gave the Mountaineers the series, 4-3. They will now advance to the World Series.
The Most Valuable Player Award went to Winchester center fielder John Hall. He batted .407 in the series, collecting 8 RBIs and scoring 6 runs.
The Winchester Mountaineers will play against the London Tigers in the next round. London won their series against the Hamilton Bulldogs 4 games to 3. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
