Raucous Mountaineers Park Crowd Propels Mountaineers to 2-0 Victory; Series Tied at 3
The Winchester Mountaineers and the Corpus Christi Mermen will take the League Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. Facing a must-win situation, the Mountaineers shut out the Mermen, 2-0, at Mountaineers Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Winchester right-hander Chris Verellen did his part. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball.

Verellen earned the win, going 7 strong innings for Winchester. The native of Raleigh, North Carolina, allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 7. Corpus Christi hitters did next to nothing against the right-hander.

"Chris pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Winchester manager Mitchell Young.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mountaineers Park in Winchester.
