Riding the 3-hit performance of right fielder Ray Geltz, the Glace Bay Miners stopped the visiting St. Catharines Blue Jays, 7-3, in Game 2 of the League Championship Series. Geltz hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for the Miners, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.

There was more than one reason the Miners beat the Blue Jays, but Geltz's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-0 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Glace Bay Miners (probably) 2026 World Series Champions'," Geltz told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Engineers Ballpark in St. Catharines.
